Sick Leave
Full-time personnel hired prior to July 1, 2010 may earn sick leave at a rate of ten (10) days per year for ten-month employees, eleven (11) days per year for eleven-month employees and twelve (12) days per year for twelve-month employees.
Beginning July 1, 2010, full-time personnel may earn sick leave at a rate of five (5) days per year for ten-month employees and six (6) days per year for eleven and twelve-month employees. Full-time personnel may accrue sick leave without limit. Upon retirement, non-teaching employees will be paid $30 per day for all unused sick leave, not to exceed 120 days. Teaching and administrative personnel will be paid at the non-degreed substitute teacher daily rate for unused sick leave, not to exceed 120 days. Annual Leave (12 month employees only)
Twelve month employees receive annual leave based on their number of years of service. Employees with 0-5 years of service earn ten (10) days per year, 6-10 years of service earn twelve (12) days per year and 11+ years of service earn fifteen (15) days per year.
An employee will not be eligible for annual leave until he/she has been employed for a period of six months. Unused annual leave days may accrue without limit. Upon retirement, an employee may be paid for unused annual leave days not to exceed the amount earned in a twenty-four (24) month period. |
Personal Leave
Full-time personnel hired prior to July 1, 2010 will be granted three (3) days of personal leave per year, not accumulative from year to year.
Beginning July 1, 2010, full-time personnel will be granted one (1) day of personal leave per year, not accumulative from year to year. Unused personal leave days are converted to sick leave days at the end of the fiscal year. Sick Leave Bank
The Westmoreland County School Board maintains a sick leave bank for all School Board employees. Employees may enroll as a member by completing a membership application during open enrollment and agreeing to donate two (2) days of earned sick leave to the bank. The sick leave bank may be used only in cases of the personal illnesses or disability of the member. It is not available for pregnancy, maternity, or child care or for any related circumstances or complications.
